Atmail now appears to be working well again and we are confidant that the problem has been rectified in the short term.
In the long term, more machines will soon be added to the mailstore cluster to further improve performance and minimise the impact of any future, unforeseen performance issues.

The SMTP servers are operating correctly, however the authentication database had a short outage which in certain cases will have stalled the SMTP connections.
Users are advised to simply restart their e-mail clients, which should clear the connection cache and restore functionality.
Should this fail, please also try restarting your entire computer, this should fix the error.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

One of our transit providers is performing upgrades on our link between Manchester and London, which may cause some disruption to routing.
For the most part, most customers will not be affected. The expected duration of the work is approximately 30 minutes.
