VPS16 Maintenance (vps16.34sp.com)

resolved

Description

The planned work has been completed, and VPS16 should be running at peak performance.

All VPS' were restarted and should be running as normal. Please contact support should you have any lingering issues.

As a reminder, this work will be commencing in 15 minutes.

Customers with VPS productions on VPS16 will have had an e-mail on Thursday (18th March) advising them of VPS downtime on 'Monday 25th March'.

Of course, this is incorrect - the 25th is a Thursday, which is when the maintenance is scheduled for.

Please be advised that from 9pm, all VPS16-hosted VPS' will be offline whilst this maintenance is under way. We do not envision that this will continue any longer than 30 minutes.

Please contact support ahead of schedule if you have any services that require to be started manually on your VPS.

Business4 services unavailable (business4.34sp.com)

resolved

Description

Business4 has been performing admirably over the last week and we're now happy to resolve the status.

23:38: Business4 seems to be running as normal now. It seems that a combination of network & disk I/O load caused the service disruption that was seen.

We will treat this as a period of monitoring until further notice.

22:18: It appears that the machine is experiencing quite a surge in network traffic. We're going to introduce some firewall rules at the network edge in an attempt to calm the situation.

21:39: Services on this server have become unavailable. At this time we are power cycling the machine to correct the fault.

Issues sending emails (smtp6.34sp.com)

resolved

Description

We're now happy that the fault with SMTP6 has been resolved with the move to better hardware and increased resources.

SMTP6 has been moved to newer hardware that can better accommodate it. At this time it is still running through a backlog of ca. 6000 e-mails which will mean that e-mails will not be delivered immediately, but can be expected soon.

We shall continue to monitor this server for the next few hours.

One of our mail cluster servers has had a queue which is causing some delay in emails sent this morning.

We recommend users flush DNS to choose a different server in our cluster.

PC users:
Close your mail program.
Press windows key and r.
Type cmd in the box and press enter.
In the black window type
ipconfig /flushdns
Press enter.
Now re open your mail program and try sending mail again.

MAC Users:
Close your mail program.
Open terminal.
Leopard users Type: dscacheutil -flushcache
OSx users Type: lookupd -flushcache
Press enter.
Now re open your mail program and try sending mail again.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Xenserve6 Down (server6.xenserve.com)

resolved

Description

The problems with the server appear to have been solved, without any load spikes for a sufficient period of time. Status resolved.

2nd wave of service disruption now dealt with and the server appears to be running fine.

We are, however, still watching server6 like hawks.

The person(s) responsible for this are being dealt with and their domain disabled. We have resumed access to the server now, but it seems there is more disruption currently happening.

This server is experiencing an incredibly high level of load. As a measure for reducing this, access to the server has been blocked at our network edge, with the hope that we will be able to recover the machine, disable the offending domain/service and remove the blocks.

Engineers are actively working on this server and hope to have the problem rectified as soon as is possible.
